Our March exhibition featured the work of Cecilia Chan, who emigrated from Hong Kong to Canada as a child of twelve, with a passion for visual arts. After completing a degree in Architectural Science Cecelia took up painting as a hobby only to find her work gaining acceptance. Encouraged by multiple requests for commissioned work she realized that her hobby had become her career. In addition to participating in juried shows, studio tours and other exhibitions she has recently been accepted into an art residency program at Chateau Bouthonvillier in France.
Among the many works on display is a collection of large vibrant paintings that capture the tranquil atmosphere of the city (Ottawa) after sunset which provides an opportunity to reflect on the day’s events. You can find more of her work on social media at https://www.facebook.com/ceci2art.
