In February, local artist, Melanie Joy will have a sample of her work on display in the shop area at the entrance to the Cafe. Melanie is a Canadian artist who has been painting for twenty years. After travelling and living in many parts of Canada and the world she and her spouse have settled in the forest in the Outaouais.
A lover of nature and the wonders that the darkness can hold, MelanieJoy paints the hidden and unseen in the shadows, with a fantasy heart. Using oils as her medium, she creates sceneries and moods that tell quiet stories, inviting the viewer to engage their inner emotions, to explore their own imagination, and perhaps feel a touch of magic stir in the soul.
The work she has provided is drawn from two series she has created. “Oceans of Storms” is a journey through Grief, expressing how life changes through the process, often distorting how we experience our existence after great loss, and finally coming to an honest conclusion that we must face, about what life means afterwards. “Between Dusk and Dawn” includes paintings of the moon using assorted styles she has developed over the years.
