Marili Clark –
Le Repos de la Guerrière
30 June – 2 August 2025
Based in Montreal, of French and English roots, Marili is a photographer with a passion for visual art. She creates images that capture the essence and emotion of the moment, exploring diverse styles ranging from portraiture to conceptual photography. Her artistic approach is based on light, composition, and visual storytelling.
The photographic project Le Repos de la Guerrière began with a single self-portrait exploring the resonance between inner self and nature as a therapeutic remedy for navigating difficult times. Over the course of a year, other self-portraits emerged during wanderings in the natural spaces surrounding her urban environment and sometimes even a little farther outside of Québec. These photographic meditations further examine the ideas of calmness, deep resting, and a profound loving connection with the natural world and its healing splendor.

In addition to photography, Marili continues to work in other artistic disciplines, such as drawing, painting, acting, and singing. Her photographic projects are inspired by her experience in the performing arts and cinema.
Gordon Hildebrand

A multidisciplinary artist who works in photography, video, music, and mixed media. Sharing the Gallery space with his partner, Gordon has hung work from two different series. Ambient Lightscapes investigates colour and form at the boundary between day and night. Firelight is an exploration of the patterns briefly revealed inside exploding fireworks. Starting with close-up photography, the photos are then processed using custom graphics software designed by the artist to create the final images.

Catherine Merry (Caye) Clarke
A painter in watercolour and acrylics for many years, Caye Clarke, Marili’s aunt, has provided two large paintings from her body of work, to make what was originally intended to be a a two-some, something of a family event. The backstory to this shared exhibition involves a long search by Marili to discover her father’s family and the fact that her aunt is also an artist! Caye has chosen only two pieces featuring a wild and a domestic cat. Once hung, it’s clear that they have something of the same impact that Marili’s work has on the psyche.
