ELISABETH BAECHLIN – BEATA JAKUBEK

3 -29 November 2025

In November we are featuring the work of two Ottawa-based artists who often show their work together and have been contributors to the Cafe’s shop for the past year.

Elisabeth Baechlin has been an artist her whole life. She loves painting and making jewelry. All her creations are inspired by nature. From bugs and birds, to seed pods and shapes of leaves, she finds inspiration everywhere she goes.

A certified goldsmith and grade for the Academy of Art and Design Berlin (KHB), Germany, Elisabeth also has a M.A. in Textile and Surface Design. Her award winning work can be found in private collections in Canada, USA, Europe and Australia.

Beata Jakubek is a visual artist who uses lots of texture and vibrant colours in her paintings. Her colourful landscapes capture the beauty of nature. Her floral works reflect her passion for gardening. Beata has spent time in south east Asia, studying sumi-e, traditional Japanese calligraphy, and ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement. Instead of haphazardly tossing flowers into a vase, Beata learned to organize them with an eye for harmony and balance.

She strives for the same kind of unity in her paintings, bearing in mind division of space. Like Elisabeth, several of Beata’s paintings have won awards and can be found in collections in Canada and other countries.

Their shared show. “Moments in Time”, includes acrylic and mixed media paintings from both artists, beautifully arranged on the walls of the Cafe. Their main focus is on the landscape but you will also find work featuring forest animals and birds. Elisabeth’s has included a series of colourful mushrooms.

You will find some of their smaller work for sale in the Cafe’s gift shop.

And on the Shop wall ….

JELLY MASSEE

Featured Artist

Finally, in November, in the gift shop we are also happy to be able to hang a selection of work by local artist Jelly Massee.

These are are some of her personal favourites, created over a number of years. We think you’ll enjoy them, along with the many paintings in the main Gallery by Elisabeth and Beata.

November can be a dull month. Stop by for a delicious lunch and enjoy some wonderful art that is sure to raise your spirits!
