Transformations – KATHARINE FLETCHER

A Pontiac resident since 1989, Katharine lives with her photographer husband, Eric Fletcher, on a hobby farm and wildlife sanctuary bordering Gatineau Park near Quyon. In addition to her career as an artist, Katharine is an award-winning author, freelance writer & environmental columnist

Known for her mixed-media acrylic Spirit Animals – particularly Spirit Horses – Katharine’s canvases burst with colourful energy of flirtatious horses and also, endangered animals such as turtles and tigers. As well, this fanciful artist creates enchanted landscapes where faeries and dragons fly. Her prints and mixed media pieces are highly experimental and fanciful. This show provides an overview of her evolution as an artist, with a focus on her recent work using uses Gelli-plates to transform botanicals into surprisingly patterned prints.
